Karthi has a considerate if not huge audience in the neighbouring Telugu states, where his movie Khakee (Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru) had previously done well. So it was no surprise that the actor was seen promoting his upcoming Khaidi (Kaithi in Tamil) there, revealing a few details about the movie. 

"Kaithi will be like Die Hard (1988) and the scope of the film is so big that Arnold Schwarzenegger can do this film.. It is an attempt to make an action film of international standards and the music is also very stylish like Hollywood movies..I feel everything is fresh in this film..", Karthi was quoted as saying by the media. 

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Kaithi is about a life-convict breaking from prison and on an obstacled-journey to meet his daughter for the first time in 10 years. About his role of a prisoner, Karthi said,

"..imagine if someone goes to jail without doing a mistake? 10 years of the person’s life disappears. We met some prisoners, who were in jail, learnt some things about them and decided on what will be my character’s behaviour and mannerisms before going to shoot.."

Kaithi/Khaidi releases October 25, 2019 and is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures.
