It was recently announced by government of Tamil Nadu that the sale of movie tickets through ticket counters will be banished and that all movie tickets will be sold only through online ticketing system. Keeping in mind the inaccessibility of certain movie goers to the whole 'internet system', Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur C. Raju on Tuesday said,

“It would first be implemented in big cities and towns, and then in air-conditioned cinemas. Eventually, it would be implemented across nearly 1,000 theaters in the State,”

 

The minister also said that the move was taken in consent with the Tamil Nadu Theater Owners and added that the sale of movie tickets online is being monitored and soon their prices would be regularized.

Many Tamil film producers welcomed the move with producer Dhananjayan even noting, "All salaries will get rationalized if actual collections are reported properly than wild estimates floating in social media. TN Govt's proposed online move is welcome"
