If the recent buzz is anything to go by, then actress Regina Cassandra has been approached for a role in Irumbu Thirai 2, a direct sequel to Vishal's hit film Irumbu Thirai. Though there have been no official announcements, it was earlier said that Sharaddha Srinath will be playing female lead this time (replacing Samantha from the prequel) and that the movie will be directed by debutant Anand, a former associate of director Ezhil.

Vishal is said to be producing Irumbu Thirai 2, which is expected to follow the story of Major Kathiravan (played by the actor) this time as well. An official announcement on the project and its cast and crew is awaited for now.
