Karagattakaran, one of Tamil cinema's most popular films from 1989 is remembered even today for Ilayaraja's music and the Goundamani Senthil comedy track, which has attained a cult status for itself over the years. The movie was written and directed by Gangai Amaren and now almost two decades later, there might be a sequel coming out for the film. 

Gangai Amaren has recently confirmed that Karagattakaran 2 is on the cards and that he is talks with some of the actors from the 1989 film. He has also revealed that the sequel's story will feature the second generation of the characters that appeared in the original, presumably sons and daughters of Ramarajan, Kanaga, Goundamani, Senthil and Kovai Sarala among others.
