Tamil cinema ( Talkies) had successfully completed 80 years on the 31st October. The first officially made Talkie in Tamil & Telugu released on October 31st 1931. It was Kalidas which was directed by H. M Reddy & produced by Adershir Irani made on a budget of INR 8000.
It was screened at Kinema Central ( Presently Murugan Theater) at Madras ( Chennai). It was a mythological drama which featured P.G. Venkatesan ,T.P Rajalakshmi & L.V Prasad . It was the highest grosser those days & it made INR 75,000.
