Movies This Week: Uyarae takes top spot while K13, A Dog's Way Home Entertain!

The new film releases put up an average show per se; however there were a few which thoroughly entertained and here is a detailed look at the options in theaters this week:

  • K 13 (Tamil) : A thriller starring Arulnithi Tamilarasu and Shraddha Srinath, K 13 follows the story of a dejected director who finds himself in a troublesome situation after a night of alcohol numbness. The movie may not be the best of whodunit mysteries but definitely keeps you engaged and is worth giving a shot this weekend. (Review Here)

  • Devarattam (Tamil) : A film that reminds you of P.G. Muthiah's earlier ventures, Devarattam too revolves around the concept of revenge. The movie has been deemed predictable and has opened to less than favourable reviews online. (Review Here)

  • Uyare (Malayalam) : An intense tale of an ambitious young woman becoming an acid attack victim, Uyare stars Parvathy in the lead who has been praised unanimously for her powerful performance. The movie has gained hugely positive responses and makes it to the top of our recommendation list this week. (Review Here)

  • A Dog's Way Home (English) : A rescued puppy getting separated from her owner and finding her way back to him is what A Dog's way home is all about. The movie which has Ashley Judd for the voice-over of the main character makes for a light watch, especially if you are a dog-lover. (Review Here)   

  • Ugly Dolls (English) : An animated fantasy film about the life of rejected dolls that do not make it to stores for sale, Ugly Dolls which has star-studded voice-overs namely Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Emma Roberts, Charli XCX, Blake Shelton, Pitbull, Wanda Sykes among others has opened to mixed reviews. 

  • After (English) : An adaption of a book by the same name, After is a young romantic tale which doesn't quite connect with the audience. The movie stars Selma Blair, Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes - Tiffin among others.

 

Others
Lesser known film that are also available to be checked out this week are Setters (Hindi), a crime thriller starring Shreyas Talpade and Aftab Shivdasani, Karan Kapadia, Sunny Deol starrer Blank (Hindi) and the Tamil movie Thandhai Solmikka Mandhiramillai.
