Vijay starrer Sarkar which hit the screens for Diwali made an astounding business of Rs. 200 cr in its opening weekend (6 days). In its second week, the film saw a dip in collections over the weekdays but did perform well over the weekend. Vijay's film has collected over Rs. 245+ cr in 13 days and is expected to cross the Rs. 250 cr mark soon.

Vijay's Sarkar is now the highest grossing south Indian film this year (2018) beating Ram Charan's Rangasthalam.
