Box Office: 96 Holds strong on Monday, to get more screens in Week 2

Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha starrer 96 called a 'poetic love story' which hit the screens on October 4, is winning hearts at the Box Office. The film directed by debutant C Premkumar had a good pre-release buzz and has lived up to the expectations of the audience and critics alike. The film which grossed over Rs. 2 cr worldwide on its opening day witnessed a steady growth at the ticket window over the weekend. It has raked in around Rs. 9+ crore in Tamil Nadu in 4 days.

The film has passed the crucial 'Monday' test and has held very well on first weekday Monday. Vijay Sethupathi's film which has been doing good business in USA has grossed $250K (Rs. 1.85 cr) till Monday. It is estimated to have made a business of around Rs. 1 - 1.5 cr on Monday. 

 

The strong positive word of mouth has helped boost the film's collections. According to trade analysts, more screens are to be added in its second week. 96 can continue its steady run at the Box Office without any stiff competition till pooja holidays as the next big releases Sandakozhi 2 and Vada Chennai are lined up for release then.

 

96 is a winner at Kerala Box Office

96 movie has made profit to the distributors in its opening weekend itself. The Kerala theatrical rights of the film was sold for Rs. 50 lakhs. The nett share for opening weekend is Rs. 60 lakhs with a gross of Rs. 1.54 cr.
