Tamil Film celebrities mourn Anitha's suicide, condemn NEET, central government

After the news of 17 year old Anitha commiting suicide spread like wild-fire yesterday, Tamil film celebrities have come forward for openly addressing the issue and condemning the Modi-ruled government for imposing exams such as National Entrance cum Entrance Test (NEET). Anitha was denied a medical seat based on her NEET scores and this lead her to take such a drastic step.

A year ago, when the Supreme Court had ordered all medical colleges in the country to use NEET, Tamil Nadu, which has close to 40 medical colleges, said its students are at a disadvantage and that it would be a punishment for rural and underpreviledged students who cannot afford the private tuition classes. SC exempted the state from NEET last year, but refused a request to continue the exemption this year.
