Nayanthara starrer Dora gets clearance from the South Indian Film Writers Association

A few days ago, director Doss Ramasamy's upcoming horror flick Dora got itself embroiled on plagiarism charges when script writer Sridhar claimed that the film's plot belonged to him and that it bore a close resemblance to his own directorial Alibabavum Arputha Carum. Unsurprisingly, director Doss rubbished these claims and the matter was taken up with the South Indian Film Writers Association. After thorough investigation, the union recently passed a verdict on this issue. They stated:

"Member of the South Indian Film Writers Association, Mr. Sridhar (Asso.No. 1533) claimed that the story of his Alibabavum Arputha Carum and the story of Dora, written by another member Mr. Doss Ramaswamy (Asso.No. 1381) is the same and filed a complaint regarding its ownership.

Immediately an investigative committee comprising Mr. T.k.Shanmugasundaram (Director), Mr.C. Ranganathan (Director, Writer) and Mrs. V. Hema Malini (Writer) was formed and based on the investigation on the evidence submitted by Mr. R.M. Sridhar and Mr. Doss Ramaswamy, it has been concluded that the theme of the story, characters, incidents and the direction of screenplay is not the same for both. This has been decided as the final word by the writers' union."

An elated Doss Ramaswamy later released this letter along with a press announcement regarding the charges. Produced by Sargunam Cinemas, the movie features Nayanthara in the lead. Dora will be released by Jhabak Movies on March 31, 2017 in theatre halls.
