Rajini Murugan to be delayed until Lingusamy settles Eros

Rajini Murugan Delay and Eros settlement dues

It is unfortunate Sivakarthikeyan and Producer Lingusamy will miss a long planned release date on Vinayaga Chathurthi. With non-payment of dues still an issue between Eros International and the producer Thirrupathi Brothers, the movie has been postponed without a clear date. The distributors are waiting for financial clearance from Eros International before finalizing the theatre list.

Losses from Anjaan and Uttama Villain haunt Rajini Murugan

After Uttama Villain, Rajini Murugan is facing a release crisis for similar reasons. The root of the issue began from Anjaan. In order to overcome Anjaan's loss, Lingusamy desperately sold both Uttama Villain and Rajini Murugan to Eros upon stringent financial and contractual conditions. With Uttama Villain's poor performance abetting the problem, the payment owed to Eros ballooned to Rs.20 Crores. Eros is now requesting to settle the remaining balance amount of Rs. 20 Crores prior to Rajini Murugan's release.  With Eros expected to close down their operations in Tamil, the executives from North are putting pressure to ensure that every last rupee is collected.

Options for Lingusamy

Lingusamy is now left with picking one of the two options to release Rajini Murugan. First option is to settle the remaining balance of Rs. 20 Crores to Eros. It is a big challenge to arrange for such amounts in short order. The second option that is currently worked on is an agreement with Eros for Lingusamy to remake and direct his hit Tamil movie "Payya" in Hindi on first copy basis in exchange for settlement of the due amount.

Thirupathi Brothers and Lingusamy had produced a long list of high quality movies in Tamil. However, the repercussions of Suriya's Anjaan and Kamal Haasan's Uttama Villain are still being felt on Rajini Murugan.
