Kaaka Muttai Songs - Music Review

 Akilan Nagarajan, Reviewpuram

This is one sincere album from GV Prakash, who has given it all for four simple, yet convincing tracks. The effort he has put in is evident, and though this is not scintillating fare, it works for the majority of your time spent. A commendable album on the whole, for its ambitious efforts and play with sounds. One can expect it to work even better with visuals.

Edhai Ninaithom (Listen here)

A melancholic yet blissful track that is tailor-made for GVP’s clichéd huskiness. We get to hear sounds that the composer has never used before, and he seems to be winning with this experimentation.

Karuppu Karuppu (Listen here)

This is a seemingly dark number that fuses dubstep and kuthu to highly engaging results. A song that is sure to stay with one for the way it balances itself between two genres of music. The most memorable track of the album, for sure!

Maanjave Kanjachu (Listen here)

Gaana Bala is back at it, and hits with the right amount of playfulness as he takes over from GVP who kick-starts the proceedings in this easily likeable number. His familiar baritone makes this an even more enjoyable track that thrives on the apparent candidness of the film.

Sel Sel (Listen here)

GVP gets creative yet again. He has pushed himself to cute-ish sounding orchestration we get to hear from him every now and then. Sathya Prakash continues his consistent run as a singer with this track, and carries it effortlessly without letting the sounds overpower the vocals.
