Sexual assault case registered against Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram

A sexual assault case has been registered against filmmaker Chidambaram, best known for directing the Malayalam blockbuster Manjummel Boys. The case was filed by the Ernakulam South Police following a complaint from a young woman, who allegedthat an incident occurred in 2022 at her apartment in Elamkulam.

According to police sources, the complainant accused the director of trespassing into the flat and behaving in a sexually inappropriate manner. Based on her statement, a case has been registered under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which relate to assault or criminal force with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty and sexual harassment. Police officials confirmed that an investigation is currently underway, and further action will depend on the findings.

Chidambaram made his directorial debut with Jan.E.Man before gaining nationwide recognition with Manjummel Boys, one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films in recent years. He is presently working on his third feature, Balan.

The development comes shortly after the director dismissed rumours linking him to a proposed project with actor Dileep, calling the reports fake. Further details regarding the ongoing investigation are awaited.
