Top 10 Heroines of Tamil in 2013

In order to make it to the list of 2013 top heroines, here are a few important criteria that should be met -- author-backed role unflinchingly justified by the heroine, Heroines who left strong impression in viewers' minds after the show concluded and heroines who are associated with commercial success of the movie.

Actress Excelled in Intense Performance

Tamil movies saw a long list of heroines who excelled this year with their brilliant performance. In terms of intensity of performance and sheer hardwork, Parvathi Menon (Mariyaan), Vedhika (Paradesi). Pooja (Vidiyum Munn) are the front-runners. 2 young artistes (not listed in the ranking) who won unanimous praise from all quarters were Baby Sadhana (Thanga Meengal) and Malavika (Vidiyum Munn).

Breezy Natural Acting in Commercial format

Lekha Washington (Kalyana Samayal Saadham), Nayantara (Raja Rani) and Trisha (Endrendrum Punnagai) carried the respective movies with their natural performance. It is difficult to imagine anybody else performing as well as they did. Hansika (Theeya Velai Seyyanum Kumaru) played her part well as required in a typical commercial format.

Heroines who made an impact

Nazriya (Neram, Raja Rani) and Sri Divya (Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam) made the biggest splash among fans in the social networking space. It was a good comeback year for Priya Anand(Ethirneechal) and Bindu Madhavi (Kedi Billa, Desingu Raja). Lakshmi Menon (Pandianadu), Andrea (Vishwaroopam, Endrendrum Punnagai), Taapsee (Arrambam), Pooja Kumar(Vishwaroopam) and Sanchita Shetty(Soodhu Kavvum) made their presence felt in small yet meaningful roles.

Heroines who lost their positions

Anushka (Irandam Ulagam) and debutante Thulasi (Kadal) were let down by the script despite playing pivotal roles.  Amala Paul (Thalaivaa) and Kajal Aggarwal (Azhaguraja) had a forgettable year due to reasons beyond their control as these movies ended up as commercial failures.
