Idhayam Murali is an upcoming Tamil film that is titled after the assumed name of late actor Murali. The Idhayam in actor Murali's name is the title of his debut film, that released in 1991. 34 years later, Murali's eldest son, and actor Atharvaa plays the lead in the Idayam Murali movie. 

Idhayam (1991) told the story of a medical college student, whose one-sided love remains unexpressed due to assumed misunderstandings. When the love is eventually reciprocated, it still remains unexpressed owing to the leading hero's delicate heart-condition.

Idhayam Murali (2025) has Atharvaa playing a medical college student as well. One-sided love is also a big theme in the Atharvaa starrer. However Idhayam Murali director Aakash Baskaran, who is also the producer of the film has stated that Idhayam Murali is a rom-com drama more on the lines of Dil Chahta Hai (2001) than Idhayam (1991).

"My lead character is similar to Murali sir’s character in 'Idhayam'. But the story is not just about one-sided love; it’s about betrayal, friendship, heartbreak, fun, and many other emotions", Aakash Baskaran has told TOI. Idhayam Murali has currently completed 50% of shooting. Atharvaa will resume the film after completing Parasakthi, which is also a Dawn Productions venture.

Idhayam Murali has Thaman S for music, and also stars Preity Mukundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Natty Natarajan, Thaman S, Niharika NM, Rakshan, Dravid, Angeline, Pragya, Sudhakar, Yashashree, Jonita Gandhi among others. Idhayam Murali's next schedule is a 20 day shoot in New York, which will begin in April, 2025.
