Jailer (2023) starring Rajinikanth in the lead is a Nelson Dilipkumar directorial, which turned out to be a blockbuster hit exceeding box-office expectations of the trade and the makers. The movie's popularity and repeat value, catapulted Jailer as the highest grossing Tamil movie of the year 2023.

A while ago, director Nelson Dilipkumar officially announced that he is set to reunite with Rajinikanth, who played Muthuvel Pandian in the film, for its sequel, Jailer 2. Jailer 2 was even buzzed to be titled Hukum, after the viral Anirudh composed hit song from Jailer.

Latest on Jailer 2 is that actor Dhanush is most likely to be roped in for a role in the Rajinikanth starrer. Reportedly, Nelson has written a character for Dhanush, and has received Rajinikanth's nod to cast his former son-in-law. Official announcements on the project and Dhanush's casting awaits.

Jailer 2 will be produced by Sun Pictures. Anirudh Ravichander will once again compose music for the sequel. Jailer 2 aka Hukum will be Rajinikanth's next project after Coolie, which is currently being shot with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, under Sun Pictures production.
