Tamil director Atlee made his Bollywood debut with the Hindi film Jawan, which starred Shah Rukh Khan in dual roles, Deepika Padukone in a special appearance, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, among others. Jawan was also music composer Anirudh Ravichander's first full fledged Hindi project (Anirudh had previously guest composed one song for the Hindi-Tamil bilingual titled David in 2013), with the Arijith Singh, Shilpa Rao sung Chaleya song becoming the biggest chartbuster of 2023.
This action thriller Jawan, produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma under Shah Rukh Khan's home banner Red Chillies Entertainment, is currently gearing up for a theatrical release in Japan. Jawan's Japan release date is November 29, 2024.
Jawan, which is currently streaming on Netflix in India, revolves around a woman prison warden named Azad (Shah Rukh Khan), who recruits inmates to commit outrageous crimes, shedding light on corruption and injustice across the country. Why he does this and how it leads him to an unexpected reunion, is what forms the rest of the story.
