Shankar directed Indian 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the cult Kamal Haasan hit Indian (1996), is all set to release in theaters this June, 2024. At this time, the makers have released a brand new character poster featuring Siddharth, marking the actor's 45th birthday on Wednesday.

Siddharth plays a journalist named Chitra Varadharajan in Indian 2, and his character is said to be the one writing to Senapathy (Kamal Haasan), for his return to India. Kamal Haasan played a  77 year old vigilante, and his corrupt son in Indian; Indian 2 is expected to see the return of the vigilante who fled the country after killing a bunch of corrupt officials, including his own son. 

Given the age factor (Senapathy would be 106 in 2024), it remains to be seen if it is indeed the vigilante who returns to uproot corruption once again, or Senapathy's son Chandru survived by some stroke of twist, and has taken on his father's role in Indian 2 (teaser here). 

A joint production venture of Lyca Productions, and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies, Indian 2 has Anirudh Ravichander for music. The movie is most likely to release on June 13, 2024.
