Recently MovieCrow had reported that Lal Salaam starring Rajinikanth, Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant, a major player in the Pongal 2024 race has dropped its expected release plans. Lal Salaam is a directorial venture of Aishwarya Rajinikanth, and now it has been officially announced that her estranged partner Dhanush's film will be releasing for Pongal instead.

Sathya Jyoti Films produced Captain Miller which is period action adventure starring Dhanush as a renegade outlaw, was previously scheduled to release in theaters on December 15, 2023. The new Captain Miller release plan has been announced as January, 2024 during Pongal ,though an official release date is yet to be confirmed.

Captain Miller written and directed by Arun Matheswaran will be meeting Sivakarthikeyan starrer sci-fi comedy Ayalaan, and Sundar C directed horror comedy Aranmanai 4 at the Pongal box-office.
