Leo starring actor Vijay in the lead is an upcoming gangster action thriller that is all set to release in theaters worldwide on October 19, 2023 [Thursday]. While the Dussehra season is a prime holiday slot to pull in theater crowds in India, seemingly the Hindi version of Leo will not be showcased in National Multiplex chains, as they require a minimum gap of 8 weeks from a film's release to its OTT premiere.
This means that Leo Hindi cannot be watched in popular outlets like PVR, Cinepolis, INOX because of its Netflix deal, which ensures that the Vijay starrer will stream on OTT within 4 weeks of its theatrical release. Recently Rajinikanth's blockbuster release Jailer faced a similar scenario because of its Amazon Prime Video streaming deal, and as a result prime chunk of business in the Hindi speaking regions of India aka North India, was missed out.
Have come across so many tweets from Hindi audiences praising #Jailer

It's a costly miss from Sun Pictures by skipping the mass scale release in the northern belt! pic.twitter.com/jx185g4Mhe
Leo is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and is touted to be part of the filmmaker's cinematic universe known as the LCU. The multi-starrer movie which has Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role, is a production venture of 7 Screen Studios and has Anirudh for music.
