Jailer will not be screened at Woodlands Theater! Here's why:

Chennai based Woodlands Cinemas or Woodlands theater is a single screen that continues to be mirred in controversy with every new movie release. Actor Rajinikanth's upcoming movie Jailer which is all the buzz right now will not be screened in this said theater, and Woodlands Cinemas will be the only screen in entire Chennai city to be not showcasing the movie.

The reason behind the same seems to be the ongoing tussle between Woodlands Cinemas' owner and lawyer Venkatesan, and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies (details here). While Red Giant Movies is no where explicitly listed as the distributor of Jailer, they do seem to be presenting the film in the area where Woodlands theater is located. However the distribution giant has not been seen promoting or advertising Jailer's release in any manner, so it is unclear if they are officially affiliated with Jailer's release.

Nevertheless, Jailer produced by Sun Pictures is predicted to take a big opening in Tamil Nadu and any theater screen missing out seems like a gross injustice to the movie's potential box-office. Also after hearing of Rajinikanth's speech at the Jailer audio launch in favour of theater owners, the Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitors' Association had penned an open letter to the star requesting a screening of his movie in all theaters of Tamil Nadu.
