It would be an understatement to say that the composer Anirudh's music played a major role in hyping the release of Rajinikanth's upcoming movie Jailer, which releases in theaters on August 10, 2023. With just 3 songs from the 32 year old musician, Jailer and the audio launch event that took place last evening became the buzz of K-town. [All 8 tracks from Jailer album are out now]
It was no surprise hence, when Rajinikanth entered the Jailer audio launch in high spirits. However, Rajini did end up surprising the shutter-bugs in a different manner. In a rare show of affection-on-camera, Rajinikanth happily hugged his Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar, and went on to place two sweet kiss on the cheeks of Jailer music composer Anirudh.

Anirudh is Rajinikanth's nephew-in-law, and close family. The composer's debut and first viral song Kolaveri Di was via his cousin Aishwarya Rajinikanth's film 3 [2012]. Highly successful in his own right, Anirudh has previously composed for two of Rajinikanth's films - Petta (2019) and Darbar (2020), that were incidentally produced by the same Sun Pictures banner.
However Jailer (also produced by Sun Pictures), is the first time fans have gotten to witness an elated Rajinikanth-Anirudh interaction. Anirudh on his part expressed his response by taking to twitter (X):

Jailer is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who has 4 films to his credit. Anirudh has composed music for all of those. Both Nelson and Jailer producer Kalanithi Maran acknowledged the duo's successful synergy at the Jailer audio launch event. While Nelson credited Anirudh as one the major reasons for his career, the Sun Pictures head wanted the combo to take a break and act in films because of their 'great timing'.
