Cooku With Comali fame Ashwin Kumar who is gearing up for his silver screen debut with Enna Solla Pogirai found himself in hot water, after he delivered a controversial speech at the audio launch of his film.

His open claims that he dozed off during 40 story narrations, that he wouldn't have let his film release if it didn't come out well and Enna Solla Pogirai director Hari calling Ashwin Kumar a Superstar [a term even star actors like Suriya dissociate with, since it has long been synonymous with Rajinikanth], made him a fodder for the troll brigade. 

Some Tamil film writers and directors even condemned the debutant for this specific statement: “I have one bad habit and that is I will sleep off if I don’t like a story. I’m not showing off but the truth is, I heard nearly 40 stories and slept off while hearing all of them. Hari’s story is the only one that didn’t make me sleep. I told him I’m doing it as it didn’t put me to sleep”

After initially responding to the incident sans an apology, Ashwin Kumar has now come out with one. The actor has now said,

"What happened after the Enna Solla Pogirai audio launch has deeply affected me. I feel bad about it. I always thought that I shouldn’t become a bad example even if I couldn’t act as a good example. I regret that things turned out this way...I spoke a lot of things without knowing what I was speaking..

 

At one point, I even realized that I am blabbering about, which I mentioned on stage as well. Many people got hurt because of my speech. Please forgive me if the things I said offended you. I am sorry for this. I will definitely give my best (in the future)..”
