Master Chef Tamil is all set to premiere on Sun TV from August 1, 2021, and actor Vijay Sethupathi's hosting is something that has created anticipation among the audience. Speaking about the same in a press conference, the Makkal Selvan as Vijay Sethupathi is fondly known said,

“We did not want to replicate the original, MasterChef Australia. I wanted the presentation to be mine, because it is a show of my makkal (people).”

The actor also revealed that he had initially turned down the offer and it took a casual explanation of the show's concept from director Vignesh Shivan, for the actor to reconsider his decision. Shooting of Master Chef Tamil is currently taking place at Innovative Film City in Bengaluru.
