The famous Devi Theater in Chennai, now known as Devi Cineplex recently celebrated 51 years of being in business. However a recent news article carried by the Dinamalar newspaper rubbed the management in the wrong way. The news report said that Devi Cineplex, inaugurated by Karunanidhi in 1970 was struggling to stay afloat due to Coronavirus COVID-19. 

The article claimed that the 4-screen complex on Mount Road, Chennai is going out of business soon. The management at Devi Cineplex have vehemently denied the same and have asked for Dinamalar to post a retraction of the same. They are also planning on sending a legal notice to both the publication and the article's author.
