Kollywood predicts normalcy only by September, 2020!

The Tamil cine industry aka Kollywood is currently under complete shutdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic which has caused no movie releases or shootings for about 30+ days now. And while industry people are hopeful to resume shooting or release movies by June this year, Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) president R.K. Selvamani has predicted normalcy to return only by September, 2020.

In an interview with The Hindu, the FEFSI president has said, “Though we can start shooting in some limited way from June, complete normalcy in operations will return only in September..Cinema is not an essential, so even if the lockdown is partially removed, cinema will be one of the last industries to start working..”

RK Selvamani has also said that even if movie theaters begin functioning like before by that time, it would be a tough task to bring in the theater foot-falls like before. He expects that the audience may visit theaters during Diwali, 2020 i.e. November but he doubts if the 'family audience' would risk coming to theaters even then.
