It was in 2019 that actor Chiranjeevi had confirmed acquiring the Telugu remake rights of the Malayalam hit film Lucifer. Since then names like Ram Charan Teja, Lucifer actor, director Prithiviraj and even Chiranjeevi himself have been associated with the project as actors roped in for the remake version, but none of these have been confirmed.
Recently, actor Allu Arjun's name has been associated with Lucifer Telugu remake, even though some sources suggest that his casting in the movie is not a fact. It is most likely that Chiranjeevi will reprise Mohanlal's character of Stephen Nedumpally / Khureshi Ab'raam from the original while an younger actor will be roped in for Prithviraj's character of Zayed Masood.
Lucifer written by Murali Gopi is the first installment in a trilogy and the second, third installments of the series - L2: Empuraan and an untitled sequel, are in development in Malayalam. The movie follows the death of a ruling party's leader and the power struggle that follows after a mysterious adopted son shows up to claim his stake.
