Publicity design remains one of the most crucial yet under-discussed departments in cinema. In 2025, Tamil cinema largely followed familiar, conventional patterns in poster design. However, a few campaigns stood apart from the routine — breaking monotony through strong concepts, story-rooted visuals, and consistent impact. Only three works truly stood out, earning their place in our Best of 2025 list.
Here are the Best Tamil Movie Poster Campaigns of 2025:
1. Retro

Publicity Design: Tuney John
Retro stands tall as one of the most impactful publicity campaigns of 2025. Designer Tuney John delivered a vibrant, mood-rich set of posters that perfectly captured the film’s tone.
The color palette, heroic framing, and retro sensibility were spot on, instantly setting expectations while staying rooted in the film’s spirit. What truly worked was the campaign consistency — right from the project announcement to the film’s final run, every poster added value and sustained recall.
2. Bison

Publicity Design: Kabilan Chellaiah
Kabilan Chellaiah continues his impressive run in 2025 with Bison. Working within a raw, grounded genre, Kabilan pulled off a series of posters that felt both powerful and thematically honest.
The recurring bison imagery, layered with characters and elemental motifs, stayed true to the story while offering strong visual symbolism. Each poster felt like an extension of the narrative rather than a standalone marketing asset.
3. Kuberaa

Publicity Design: Kabilan Chellaiah
Kabilan Chellaiah makes the list again with Kuberaa, but this time in a completely different visual space. On paper, the contrasts of wealth, poverty, money, and power offer obvious poster opportunities — yet Kuberaa stood out for how innovatively these elements were explored.
The campaign smartly used character positioning, texture, and symbolism to create visual variations that remained engaging throughout.
Special Mention: Aaryan – Countdown Posters
By far the most inventive countdown poster campaign in recent times. The Aaryan countdown posters redefined how countdowns can be used — not as filler, but as creative storytelling tools.
