After the Tamil Nadu government announced in a circular that movie theaters in 16 districts of Tamil Nadu bordering other state will be shut down until the end of this month, a new announcement has come out ordering the same for the whole of the state. The  Edappadi Palaniswami government's comes at a time when the coronavirus Covid-19 scare is looming large throughout the country, sending most of it under shut-down. 

The CM's office has also ordered the shut-down of schools, universities (with the exception of medical colleges), gyms, malls and most public places throughout the state till March 31, 2020 and has appealed to people to reduce traveling to other states, gathering in huge numbers and to practice good self-hygiene.
