Mankaded - An informal term for an act of batsman dismissal when a bowler holds on to a ball during delivery and removes the bails of the non-striker who is out of crease. Interestingly this term was coined after Vinoo Mankad, an Indian bowler who used this 'controversial' method of dismissal twice against team Australia in 1947.

It is the most trending word on the internet today after Indian cricketer Ashwin Ravichandran 'mankaded' English player Joss Butler during an IPL match last evening. Ashwin was repping actress Preity Zinta co-owned team Kings XI Punjab while Butler was playing for Rajasthan Royals.

Cricket enthusiasts from all over the world ensured to register their opinion on this controversial method of dismissal and they have been divided over right and wrong and sportsmanship at display among other aspects of the incident.

In lieu of the hour, we decided to look back at a time when actor Vikranth playing for a celebrity cricket league team called Chennai Rhinos pulled a 'mankad' against a player from Karnataka bulldozers in a season of CCL (Video above).

Interestingly celebrities from the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi film industry had formed teams to play 'friendly matches' and the 'mankad' from Vikranth was anything but friendly (One of the cine personalities from Karnataka's team could be seen in tears post losing the match).

Mankading might well be within the rules of any cricket match, but it wouldn't be an understatement to say that this method of dismissal never has too many takers among fans of the sport.
