Rajinikanth's upcoming film with director A.R. Murugadoss, which is presently referred to as Thalaivar 166, is all set to begin shooting by the end of March this year. At this time, it has officially be announced that cinematographer Santhosh Sivan has been roped to handle the camera in the film.
Santhosh Sivan had worked with Rajinikanth before in 1991 in Thalapathy, which is considered to be one of Rajinikanth's best movies and a cult film in Tamil cinema.

Thalaivar 166 is funded by Lyca Productions, which also made Rajinikanth's 2.0; The music of the film is handled by Anirudh Ravichander. Actors Yogi Babu and Keerthy Suresh are also rumoured to be a part of this film though an official confirmation on their casting is awaited.
Thalaivar 166 is rumoured to be an action thriller with a cop and a thief and word has it that Rajini will be seen playing a cop in the film. This has been neither confirmed nor denied by the filmmakers who have previously shot down title rumours about the film.
