Actor Vishal Released after 8 hours of Detention! Here's what lead to the fiasco

Yesterday, actor Vishal, actor Mansoor Ali Khan and a few others were detained by the Chennai Police after the incumbent TFPC office bearers tried to forcibly break-open into their office which was sealed for a registrar review.

The lock-down was put in place by a group of producers led by director Bharathi Raja, S.Ve. Shekar, actor JK Rithesh and producer AL Alagappan and when Vishal and his supporters tried to get past the police stationed there, they were detained and booked under CRPC 145 (Procedure where dispute concerning land or water is likely to cause breach of peace) and CRPC 151 (Arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences).

On what led to the lock-down, director Bharathi Raja was quoted in the media as saying,"The team in charge has to show accounts for Rs 7 crores..Ever since Vishal came to power, the TFPC Registrar office has been functioning from a different building. This anonymous building has all the accounts. When we had requested for a meeting on Wednesday, no one came. So we locked the anonymous building and we have submitted our petition to the government.”

Media reports also quote producer S.R. Prabhu, treasurer of TFPC and actor Udhaya who until recently was a part of TFPC weigh in on the matter. While S.R. Prabhu feels Vishal's frequent brush-offs with the government to be the reason behind this fiasco, Udhaya on the other hand has said that Vishal's 'refusal for a meeting' when convened and his inability to keep up his words as a leader of the council are why things have escalated.

Post his release Vishal in a statement has said that he and the others were 'detained illegally' for 8 hours. Apparaently, they were taken to a  to  a private marriage hall in T Nagar and Vishal has said that the move was 'totally unfair'
