Simbu is teaming up with Venkat Prabhu for a political thriller titled "Maanadu". This film will mark the collaboration of the two for the first time. The film will go on floors in October. This is the first time Venkat Prabhu is all set to direct a political film which carries the tagline 'A Venkat Prabhu Politics'. Maanadu will be produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner V House Productions. The details of the rest of the cast and crew is yet to be announced.

Venkat Prabhu is also awaiting the release of his next film Party. He is also getting ready for the release of his production venture RK Nagar. 

STR is awaiting the release of Mani Ratnam’s multistarrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam which is scheduled for release in September. Meanwhile the actor will also begin work on Sundar C's film which is the Tamil remake of Telugu blockbuster film Attarintiki Daredi  produced by Lyca Productions.Simbu will also be collaborating with director Gautham Menon reportedly for the sequel to Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.
