As Tamil film industry steps into week 3 with no film releases, the dry-spell for movie releases in Tamil continues. However, the Multiplexes in Chennai (theatres in rest of Tamil Nadu are on a strike as well) are crowded with 5 news releases from other languages. Raid (Hindi), Poomaram (Malayalam), Ira (Malayalam), Gringo (English), Kirrak Party (Telugu) are the ones occupying the Chennai theatres right now and here's a brief look at which one would best suit your weekend pick.

Raid - Hindi (Movie Page)

Ajay Devgan's Raid is based on high profile raids the country and despite mixed reviews, has been garnering a big Thumbs Up from the audience so far. The movie leads our recommendation list with an aggregate 68% in our MC Ratings.

Kirakk Party - Telugu (Movie Page)

A Telugu version of the Kannada super-hit of the same name, Kirrak Party is your go-to movie if you are on the look-out for a youthful romantic college drama. This Nikhil Siddharth starrer stands second on our list with an aggregate of 58%.

Gringo - English

Starring Charlize Theron with a stellar ensemble, Gringo is a twisty action-comedy about an US businessman who goes from a law-abiding citizen to a wanted criminal after landing in Mexico.

Poomaram - Malayalam (Movie Page)

A musical drama featuring Kalidas Jayaram, Poomaram is set around the Kerala Youth Festival rather than a plot. The film stands at 57% in our MC ratings.

Ira - Malayalam (Movie Page)

Ira is thriller film which revolves around a Dr. Aryan who falls prey to conspiracy of a murder charge. Unni Mukundan plays the lead in this film which has so far garnered a mix response from the audience.
