Mersal has now emerged as the all-time No.2 grosser in Chennai city, beating Kabali, after around 3 weeks in running. Mersal has grossed 12.39 CR so far and has crossed Kabali's lifetime city gross of 12.35 CR. The all-time Top 5 city grossers are as follows,

1. Baahubali 2 - 18.85 CR

2. Mersal - 12.39* CR

3. Kabali - 12.35 CR

4. Theri - 11.5 CR

5. Enthiran - 11.2 CR

Baahubali 2 remains unshakable at the top and remarkably the ticket rates weren't even hiked then. A few of the 2018 biggies like 2.0 and Kaala should try their luck now, at grabbing the top spot.
