Preview of Miruthan and Sethupathi

There have been two or more new Tamil movie releases almost every weekend this year, and the upcoming Friday will be no different. Jayam Ravi's Miruthan and Vijay Sethupathi's Sethupathi will be hitting the screens on February 19. Let's check out what these movies are likely to offer for the movie buffs.

1. Miruthan

Post the tremendous success of Thani Oruvan and getting rave reviews for his performance in Bhooloham, Jayam Ravi has now become one of the most bankable stars in Tamil cinema. Miruthan, which is touted as the first zombie film in Tamil, is directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan. Going by the trailer, Jayam Ravi seems to possess diverse characteristics, and one can expect him to ace in his role.

The director is best known for his focused screenplays in Naanayam and Naaigal Jaakirathai, and it would be interesting to see how he has handled a zombie film. Lakshmi Menon plays the leading lady in the film, which has music by Imman.

2. Sethupathi

Vijay Sethupathi's previous film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, ended with the dialogue 'Police dhan Hero'. Interestingly, in his next film - Sethupathi, Vijay Sethupathi plays a cop for the first time in his career. Directed by S U Arun Kumar of Pannaiyarum Padminiyum fame, the movie has Remya Nambeesan as the leading lady.

For Vijay Sethupathi and Arun Kumar, Sethupathi would have demanded a 360° shift in the treatment from their last film, which was a rural feel-good entertainer. It is nice to see them explore a new genre and Vijay Sethupathi looks refreshing as a cop. Music is scored by Nivas K Prasanna and editing is handled by National award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad.
