Box Office Numbers for Major Multiplexes in Key Metro Cities

Here are the Box Office numbers for major multiplexes in Chennai, Bangalore and Coimbatore for the movies of 3 big heroes released in 2011 -- Mankatha, 7aum Arivu and Velayutham. The collection data trend is consistent with other multiplexes and A centers in major metro cities. Multiplex data contributes almost 10% to 15% to the overall collection these days and also a good representative of broader trend in A centers. 

Velayudham completed its box office run(65 Days in total) as of December 30th and removed from all theatres in Chennai and other metro cities. 7aum Arivu still running in handful theatres in Chennai and Coimbatore. 7aum Arivu may also wrap-up next week when Pongal release movies take over the screens. As a benchmark, only Sivaji and Enthiran have collected more than 1 Crore from a single multiplex center. Despite all the negative talks about 7aum Arivu through out its entire run, the multiplex collection data shows that the movie held steady in the long run and made respectable gross collections of 70 Lakhs in some major Multiplex centers.

NATIONAL FAME CHENNAI (Mankatha, 7aum Arivu and Velayudham)

Mankatha made the highest among the 3 movies in Chennai Fame with 59 Lakhs. 7aum Arivu came close with 56 Lakhs and Velayudham lagged behind with 41 Lakhs. Week 3 to 4 showed a drop decline for Mankatha due to family audience not lending the support.

PVR CHENNAI (7aum Arivu and Velayudham)

7aum Arivu collected totally 78 Lakhs while Velayudham could manage only 44 Lakhs. Mankatha numbers for first weekend was not available. Hence, it is omitted. 

COIMBATORE - KG Cinemas (Mankatha, 7aumArivu and Velayutham)

Due to Suriya's homeground advantage in Coimbatore, 7aum Arivu made 71 Lakhs in gross collections. Mankatha dropped from 3rd week in Coimbatore and made a total collection of 54 Lakhs. Due to lower cost of rights, Mankatha brought distributors good returns.

Bangalore - LIDO & Prestige

7aum Arivu has been declared as a genuine 'Super Hit' in Bangalore. The collections have been one of the highest in the recent times as confirmed by the collection reports.
