Producer Ishari K. Ganesh of Vels Film International has announced that Dhanush’s upcoming film Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja of Por Thozhil fame, will release in theatres on April 30. The announcement was made during the Vels Festival, Nakshatra 2026 event on Friday.

The film’s glimpse introduces Dhanush as Karasaami, a cotton farmer who turns to violence while confronting powerful enemies, seeking redemption for his past actions.

The cast includes Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Karunaas, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu and M. S. Bhaskar, among others. Music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, marking another collaboration with Dhanush after Idli Kadai.
