Former Indian cricketer Ashwin Ravichandran, speaking at a recent Galatta roundtable interview with film personalities and critics, shared his surprise over how online opinions can influence modern-day audiences after watching Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
Reacting to the strong negative chatter around the film, Ashwin said the experience made him question the impact of internet reviews on individual perception.
“There were many opinions on social media saying Coolie was not a good movie. I was concerned about that. I watched the film on OTT in one stretch without any distractions — that’s my way of watching any film online. I didn’t find many mistakes in Coolie. After watching it, I asked myself whether my opinion had been influenced by online comments,” he said.
Ashwin added that while critics may dissect flaws, as a regular audience member he did not notice issues to the extent suggested online, highlighting how internet discourse increasingly shapes viewing experiences today.
