It was officially revealed on Tuesday that Arasan is the title of actor Silambarasan TR's upcoming movie with director Vetrimaaran. The film title was revealed with a first look poster, where Silambarasan TR could be seen in a Vadachennai-universe avatar.

Vadachennai (2018) is a crime drama written and directed by Vetrimaaran. The filmmaker has said that Arasan is set in the same North Chennai gangster universe, but is not a sequel to the movie. 

Arasan is a production venture of Kalaipuli S Thanu Creations, and its first preview will be released simultaneously on social media platforms and theaters as soon as it clears censor formalities.
