Lokesh Kanagaraj on Thalapathy Vijay's Role in LCU: It Won't Be Complete Without Him

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is set to hit screens on August 14, 2025. The film is off to a strong start in the USA, with pre-sales crossing half a million dollars. Promotions are in full swing as the release date nears.

At a recent event in Coimbatore, Lokesh Kanagaraj made a notable statement about Thalapathy Vijay and the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). He said,
“Without Thalapathy Vijay sir, there wouldn’t be an LCU. But I don’t know whether he will be part of it again, as you all know where his vision stands today. But any day, the LCU won’t be fulfilled without him.”

Thalapathy Vijay starred in Leo, a major part of the LCU, which became a box office blockbuster despite mixed reviews. Before Leo, Vijay and Lokesh teamed up for Master, which was also a commercial success. Their strong working relationship has continued to grab fans’ attention.

As Coolie gears up for its release, fans are excited about what’s next for the LCU, and whether Vijay will return to the universe he helped build.
