Still of Rajinikanth with Petta, Coolie, Jailer 2 directors breaks the internet!

Superstar Rajinikanth breaks the Tamil internet by posing with three of his blockbuster directors, Karthik Subbaraj (Petta), Lokesh Kanagaraj (Coolie), and Nelson Dilipkumar (Jailer, Jailer 2). 

 

 

When Rajinikanth's career was going through a re-inventive phase between 2016-2019, the Superstar collaborated for the first time with director Karthik Subbaraj on Petta (2019). The movie produced by Sun Pictures marked the first time Anirudh Ravichander composed music for Rajinikanth. Petta ended up being the last known hit for the Superstar, before the onset of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. 

 

 

Petta was followed by two back-to-back disasters for Rajini, and just when the Tamil film industry was getting its ink ready to write off the 70+ Superstar, Sun Pictures and Anirudh Ravichander came through once again for the actor, this time with another first time collaborator, director Nelson Dilipkumar. 

 

 

Despite Nelson's previous film Beast (2022) not working well, the director pulled off the biggest blockbuster of his career with Jailer (2023). The box-office success of Jailer rang so loud that Rajinikanth, director Nelson Dilipkumar, Sun Pictures production house, and music composer Anirudh Ravichander are collaborating once again on a sequel titled Jailer 2.

Currently Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of Coolie with yet another first time collaborator, and one of the most promising directors from the Tamil film industry, director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Coolie is also a production venture of Sun Pictures with Anirudh Ravichander for music, and expectations surrounding the movie are understandably high. 

 

So when Sun Pictures posted a still of Rajinikanth with three of his blockbuster directors, the Tamil netizens couldn't keep calm. Some of their reactions from X:
