Thalapathy 69 (tentative title) is actor Vijay's last movie before he becomes a full time politician. The project was officially announced on September 14, 2024 with H. Vinoth as director, and Anirudh Ravichander as music composer. KVN Productions, the banner behind Thalapathy 69 revealed on Wednesday that actresses Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiji are on board the Thalapathy 69 cast, as the film's female leads.

Previously Bollywood actor Bobby Deol was revealed to be part of the Thalapathy 69 cast.
