The first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024's polls is currently being held on all seats of Tamil Nadu (39), Puducherry (1), Rajasthan (12), Uttar Pradesh (8), Madhya Pradesh (6), Uttarakhand (5), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Meghalaya (2), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Sikkim (1) and Lakshadweep (1).
At 11 am, four hours after polling began, Tamil Nadu had recorded 23.7 per cent turnout, and among these were several well known Tamil film celebrities like 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, 'Ulaganagayan' Kamal Haasan who is also the chief of Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM), Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi, Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan (and wife), multiple National award winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran, BJP candidate Khushboo, her filmmaker husband Sundar C, their two daughters, actor Harish Kalyan, filmmakers Selvaraghavan, Lingusamy, Sasikumar, Bharathiraja, with actor-son Manoj, producer Dhananjayan, actors couple Prasanna and Sneha, among others.
Actors like Yogi Babu, 'Thalapathy' Vijay who is also the chief on Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), Suriya, brother Karthi, their father Sivakumar, 'Chiyaan' Vikram, among others have also cast their vote since.

A total of 1625 candidates are contesting for 102 seats across 21 states and union territories, in the 2024 Indian general elections. As polls opened Friday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the country's citizens, “I urge all those voting in these seats to exercise their franchise in record numbers, I particularly call upon the young and first time voters to vote in large numbers. After all, every vote counts and every voice matters!”
