Lyca Productions, the banner behind Superstar Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 170 (tentative title) and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's Indian 2, has set the internet on fire by releasing stills of the two stars together. According to an X post from the banner, the two actors who've been contemporaries for decades and continue to share a good friendship, happened to shoot at the same studio after a period of 21 years. So they made a moment out of it, and released it out in the world for their and Tamil cine fans.  

69 year old actor, politician Kamal Haasan is gearing up for the release of the Shankar directed political thriller Indian 2 in 2024. The movie is a long-awaited sequel to the actor-director's 1996 movie Indian, which was a runaway hit during its time and is considered a classic today. Kamal Haasan currently hosts Bigg Boss Tamil 7 on  the weekends, and his Makkal Needhi Maiyan political party is expected to contest in the next Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election to be held in April-May 2026.

The soon to be 73 Rajinikanth on the other hand, after delivering a big hit like Jailer in 2023 is currently gearing up for the release of Lal Salaam in January, 2024 during Pongal, is shooting for Thalaivar 170 with director TJ Gnanavel and has Thalaivar 171 (tentative title) with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, Sun Pictures in the pipeline.
