Hollywood actor Brendan Fraser made a comeback of the year in 2022 with the critically acclaimed psychological drama The Whale. Last weekend, Brendan went on to win an Oscar for Best Actor for his role as the morbidly obese reclusive protagonist, who is on a journey to reconnect with his daughter while awaiting death in the movie. 

The film also won an Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling; Fraser wore prosthetics that would take upto 4 hours to play his extremely overweight character in the movie. This much-in-the-news film is now streaming in India and viewers can catch the film on Sony Liv OTT platform.

The Whale is based on a play of the same name by Samuel D Hunter and is directed by Darren Aronofsky. Brendan Fraser plays Charlie, a gay online English instructor, Sadie Sink of The Stranger Things fame plays Ellie - Charlie's estranged daughter. Sathya Sridharan plays Dan, Charlie's regular pizza delivery guy, Ty Simpkins plays Thomas, a Christian missionary hell bent on 'saving' Charlie, Samantha Morton play Mary, Charlie's ex-wife and Hong Chau plays Liz - Charlie's only friend in the movie.
