Farzi is an 8-episode Amazon Prime Video series, starring Vijay Sethupathi as a bad-ass cop and Shahid Kapoor as a grey-shaded hero. Raj and DK of The Family Man fame, initially conceived Farzi as a film with Shahid, but later converted into OTT content for reasons best known to them. Given the era of crossovers, the directors too had one of their own in Farzi, colliding it with their other popular Amazon Prime Video world i.e. The Family Man 1 and 2. 

Farzi revolves around a Tamil speaking task force officer named Michael Vedanayagam (Vijay Sethupathi), who attempts to zero in on a counterfeit money terrorist (Kay Kay Menon). Unbeknownst to Michael, who heads the Counterfeiting, Currency Fraud Analysis And Research Team (CCFART), he is after a disillusioned artist named Sunny (Shahid Kapoor), whose master craftmanship surpasses the system's security for fake currency notes.

Raj and DK's The Family Man heroes - Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) and Chellam Sir (Uday Mahesh) cameo in Farzi (the former voice only) as do some other characters and they help Michael and his colleague Megha's (Raashii Khanna) world in the story. Conveniently, Farzi ends with a cliffhanger and Vijay Sethupathi's character is shown to be left in a setup the viewers had not seen him living in, throughout the eight 1 hour long episodes. 

Context: Michael, a divorcee by the end of Farzi is re-beginning his life in an empty flat that he once lived in, with his ex-wife Rekha Rao (Regina Cassandra) and son. They leave him the house since he bought it with his hard-earned money, while they go away to stay with Rekha's new partner.

Due to all these hints, buzz has been constant about Vijay Sethupathi joining the upcoming season of The Family Man.  The Family Man 3 is centered around the COVID-19 pandemic, and is expected to revolve around how China attacks the North-eastern states of India using the SARS-COV-2 Coronavirus as a distraction.

No official announcements have been made but recently, Shahid Kapoor was cornered with Farzi-The Family Man cross over in The Family Man 3 or Farzi 2. The Bollywood actor said, "You have to ask this to Raj and DK..That's really their universe. Everything is possible but its really about what is right. You shouldn't do something just for the heck of it. It has to blend in a manner that's natural and can take that journey forward and all that"
