Director H. Vinoth has been promoting his upcoming movie Thunivu starring Ajith Kumar in the lead, and during one of the interviews, the filmmaker had shared an irony about the movie. H. Vinoth told Kumudham magazine that Ajith came on board Thunivu after liking just one scene that the director had narrated. And even though the scene in question was written with clean intentions, the filmmaker after a point felt that it had political undertones, and hence removed it in its entirety from the movie.
When the interviewer questioned whether this move was a reflection of Ajith's political-silence, H. Vinoth said, "Ajith is of the opinion that if one has to speak politics, then it should be done on the political ground. He neither has any inclination nor interest in using cinema as a platform for speaking politics. Likewise he does not support dialogues or scenes that pinpoint a politician. An individual policeman can be faulted, but one shouldn't fault the entire police department. "Don't generalize" is what he says. He also doesn't like personal attacks."
This answer of H. Vinoth added to the rivalry discourse between Ajith, Vijay and their fans. In part 2 of the same interview, H. Vinoth was directly asked if he meant Vijay with his statement about politics. To this H. Vinoth has said,
"My answer was only to your question of whether politics scares (Ajith) that much (that an entire scene with political undertones was removed). No matter how minutely I try and insert politics into the dialogues, Ajith spots it and has it removed. I answered keeping only this in mind. Is this wrong? My answer to those who want a debate out of it - I have narrated a story to Vijay. Don't spoil that."
