Bharathi Raja wants Amazon to ban The Family Man for portraying Tamils, Muslims & Bengalis in negative light!

Enough time has passed for those against The Family Man web-series, to catch up on all 10 episodes from Season 1 and 9 episodes from Season 2. As previously reported by us, the Amazon Prime Video show by filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. faces a lot of resistance upon every Season release and despite proving to be otherwise, the show is met with a lot of 'anti' accusations.

While up north, The Family Man 2 is currently accused of being 'anti-Modi' for projecting a Mamatha Banerjee-inspired character as the Prime Minister of India, down South veteran filmmaker Bharathi Raja feels the 'Bengalis' have been shown in negative light based on the same character.

"In a propaganda against the Tamils, Muslims and Bengalis, The Family Man show has continuously portrayed people of these particular ethnic group in negative light", said the director in his statement against the show. It is worth mentioning here that Basu, the Indian PM's character (played by Seema Biswas) is neither a hero nor a villain in the show.

Similarly, the Indian-Muslim villains of the show - be it the ruthless Moosa (Neeraj Madhav), the 'lone-wolf' Sajid (Shahab Ali) or the young recruit Salman (Abhay Verma) - their dark side has been shown to stem from gross injustice, much like Raji's (Samantha's character).

Despite enough pro-Tamil sentiments in The Family Man 2, Bharathi Raja has joined the likes of Seeman in demanding a ban on the show and has threatened that failure to do so will result in Tamils boycotting all Amazon related products and services.
