A few hours ago, actor Dhanush was announced as the winner of 'Best Actor' at the 67th National Film Awards, an annual award ceremony administered by the Indian government. Dhanush won for his performance in the 2019 movie Asuran and this is his second 'Best Actor' win after his award for Aadukalam (2010) at the 58th edition of these same awards.

This puts Dhanush in a niche list of male actors who have more than one 'Best Actor' National award win in their kitty. Malayalam star Mohanlal is the only other South actor with 2 wins whereas Kamal Haasan and Mammootty are the other South actors with 3 'Best Actor' wins each. 

Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan leads this list with 4 'Best Actor' awards in his entire career where as others who share 2 wins with Dhanush and Mohanlal are Ajay Devgn (Bollywood), Mithun Chakroborthy (Bollywood), Nasseruddin Shah (Bollywood), Om Puri (Bollywood) and Sanjeev Kumar (Bollywood).
